Suhas Shetty murder in Mangaluru | Manglore news today live! On the evening of may 1, 2025 Mangaluru was shaken by the brutal murder of Suhas Shetty, a 42 years old former Banjrang dal member and key accused in the 2022 killing of Mohammed Fazil. The attack occurred near kinnipadavu when when shetty was travelling with five companions. Assailants in two cars ambushed the vehicle, attacking Shetty with swords and sharp weapons. Despite being rushed to AJ Hospital, He succumbed to his injuries.

who is Suhas Shetty?

Suhas Shetty was a prominent figure in coastal Karnataka’s political landscape, known for his association with Hindutva organization like the Bajrang dal. His name gained national attetion when he was implicated in the murder of Mohammed Fazil, a 23 year old Muslim youth from katipalla’s Mangalapete neighborhood. Fazil’s killing followed closely after the assassination of BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru, leading to suspicions of retaliatory motives and escalating communal tensions in the region.

In the aftermath of Shetty’s murder Karnataka authorities have intensified their investigation. Home Minister G. Parameswara announced the arrest of eight individuals in connection with the case and proposed the formation of anti commmunal task force to address such incidents. Additionally BJP MP Tejaswi Surya has written to union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over the probe citing the possibility of organized communal elements being involved.
